Okinawa Couples Lifestyle Session

During the rainy season here in Okinawa I have come to love photographing couples lifestyle sessions! They are the perfect way to capture lazy days with your significant other without the need to get all dressed up. Couples lifestyle sessions with me are all about kicking your shoes off, cuddling on the couch, and sipping coffee with your favorite person!

So when Casey reached out to she told me that her husband, Derik, is slated to deploy much sooner than they planned next month. I was able to get them in for a session and I’m so glad we made it work! Casey said this of what she wanted her session to be “We are hoping/ thinking of doing it as a lifestyle and relaxed as they come, hopefully lol. We just want a personal reminder of what our weekends were like together, if that makes sense!” I knew it was going to be the perfect couples session they were looking for!

All of my couples lifestyle sessions have been in on base housing. Which can be tricky for the most part to do. They are built like bunkers in the case of typhoons, which is a good thing, but also doesn’t give them the best setting for natural lighting. In Casey’s case, the weather that day was being extra temperamental and right before I arrived it had been pouring down rain. But then just 15 minutes into the session the sun was shining lots of natural light into their home! What’s more is Casey’s house is full of the perfect quote signs around her home. I asked her where she got them and she said she got most of them from Hobby Lobby. It made for the perfect backdrop on some of her pictures.

They both dressed in black shirts which gave a perfect contrast to her picture and killer black and white photos! I am so in love with the black and whites in particular because of how they dressed! And Derik’s shirt says “World’s Okayest Husky Father” which was in reference to their adorable husky pup they had to leave back in the states to this tour. I can only imagine how hard that is for them since we also have a big fur child and it was so stressful bringing him over to Okinawa. But I’m glad they were able to include him in their session and their home is filled with pictures of their beloved husky on the walls in photo art!

I’m absolutely obsessed with their images and how easy going these two are. It was the perfect couples lifestyle session and I can’t wait to share these with you!
