Florida Wedding Photographer for fun relaxed couples looking for vibrant & timeless photographs.

An hour and a half north of my home in Jacksonville, FL, and an hour and a half south of Savannah, GA, is a place that is a beautiful blend of both: St. Simon’s Island. With its white, sandy beaches a short walk away from oak trees draped with Spanish moss, this spot in the Golden Isles was truly the perfect place for the wedding of Meg and Matt.
Shortly before Matt proposed to Meg, the couple purchased a boat together. It was on that boat that he proposed to her, during sunset while their favorite song played. Could anything be more romantic? I always love hearing how my couples’ got engaged, and those stories make the little details, like the starfish worn in place of boutonnieres by the groom and groomsmen, that much more special.
While the island itself was beautiful, the little, white chapel where the ceremony was held could not have been more picturesque. Lovely Lane Chapel, surrounded by such a wonderfully coastal-Georgian combination of palm and oak trees, is actually the oldest standing church building on St. Simon’s Island. Built in 1880, it has withstood both hurricanes and the test of time. What a beautiful metaphor for the journey Meg and Matt have now begun together.
And the reception was a blast! Photographing the newly married couple dancing with boat captain hats on while their family and friends played tambourines and maracas was definitely my favorite memory from this wedding.
